When I had my annual writer's retreat at our home last week, Grandpa G and Gramita took my three boys and one man in for five full days of Summertime fun. Board games by the pool, popsicles multiple times each day, and loads of crafts. Brody loves craft-time with Gramita, and the special scented markers she brings out have become a highlight each year. Notice how his nose is speckled with marker dots from each color / scent he sniffed. While I planned on highlighting Rusty Red colors in this post, I'd be remiss to not mention the rainbow on his nose.
Much of our time at the lake is spent in the shade of dogwood trees - with earthy tones dripping through the leaves. We while away many hours at my Dad's pool, where blue sky and green water sparkle at us from one side, and burnt sienna walls reflect the light back from the other.
They are home now; coming off the high, enjoying the quiet of our days, playing legos and coloring. Again, lots of coloring. Today my boys focused in on these shades in their new crayon set...
I thought as they colored shapes and wrote words, how they chose the colors they'd been immersed in this week, just as I had done yesterday with my Green post.
Happy Color Week to one and all...
