San Diego Giveaways!

Posted by [email protected] on November 1, 2011 at 1:10 AM

While I have written multiple articles lately about our deep need for Joy, and the difference between Joy and Happiness, this post is really just about HAPPINESS!

There are two things that make me especially HAPPY:  A sweet cup of tea at a lovely teahouse with friends, and creative fun with my artistic brood.  And so I've rustled up a couple of Giveaways for local readers.

The first is a Gift Certificate to The Grand Tearoom in Escondido. Newly opened and ready for guests!  The tea selections are wonderful, the atmosphere classy yet comfortable, and the menu doesn't have a weak link. Everything is marvelous!  This is the same lovely teahouse I visited with my new friends a couple of weeks ago.  The owner, Louisa has offered the generous gift of two "Grand Teas" (a $58 value) to one of our lucky readers.

The second GIVEAWAY is a free guest pass to the super-fantastic Art Soup in Encinitas. My children LOVE this drop-in art studio, and so do I. There are walls to paint and create upon, things to build, and (our favorite of all) a room totally dedicated to creating anything their little hearts desire. And moms, all you have to do is sit back and let one of their wonderful resident-artists help your child figure out how to make a space ship out of a paper towel roll, tissue paper, and an empty creamer cup. Add some glitter and a piece of string and BAM! You have a remarkable keepsake dangling from their bedroom ceiling. Some other of my favorite creations the boys have made there are... an enormous Father's Day Tie for their Dad, a miniature scene of David and Goliath, and a papier-mâché shark.

If you would like to be entered to win one of these Local Giveaways leave a comment below about where you go and what you like to do that makes you HAPPY!  Share this link with friends, tweet it, or become a member of this site and you can be entered multiple times to win (just let me know all you did to pass the word along.)

The winner will be announced Sunday night.

Thanks Wendy,
I will share with the school gals. Seems like fun! We love to get out and about in all of San Diego whether it be museums, music or art. We love to explore. Thanks for the great new ideas and for the encouragement on true joy verses happiness which is fleeting. I will definitely check back soon for more great encouragement.

I may not be local, but I'll enter to win. I'd love to have tea with the most wonderful Daughter in law in the UNIVERSE... I'm also going to share this Giveaway with my "friends" but I can't say I have many friends in Southern California.

First of all, I love you and like you...(this might be part of the reason we are friends) I love tea and art and art and tea. Like...is there a better combination fo happiness in this world? Maybe a sleeping baby, but thats about it. And since you're not giving any one of those...I'll settle for a cuppa and a paint brush. :)

Plus...I think I would be entered twice.. that's me and my kidlet in the picture!

Oh you know me...all about relaxation and pampering! I am VERY happy when I am getting a hot stone massage or a lavish manicure/pedicure. But it's not all about me...I also love spending fun-filled weekends with my family - movies, bowling, mini golf, sand castles at the beach. But nothing beats a road trip with my hubby and kids! We love seeing America and all its bounty!

Ooh I love places for a nice time for tea! Unfortunately, my current favorites are all less than convenient - like the Middle East or Disney World! ha! I'll have to try the one on Grand...maybe I'll take my mom! Thanks for sharing!

Praying for you, friend! Love you!

Happiness is racing a chestnut mare in the dry San Pasqual Valley riverbed. Happiness is reaching the top of an eight pitch climb and viewing Katoomba. Happiness is rocking my babies in the middle of the night. Happiness is reading an inspiring autobiography. Happiness is sipping a cup of Lavender Dreams tea while dreaming about what makes me happy:)

Using the camera to capture moments makes me happy! Watching my kids fly kites makes me happy! Santa Ana winds make me happy! And taking pictures of my kids flying kites on a Santa Ana day makes me super happy! :-)

I LOVE to go to tea with girlfriends...there's just nothing as relaxing, giggly, and girlie! I also love my toddler's belly laugh and his big sis saying "Mommy, I love you!" unasked:)

I like to meet my friends for coffee and catch up on mommy moments. I also like to watch my kids playing when they don't know I am looking (and when they aren't fighting)--but those tiny moments when you see them exploring and learning and creating their own joy.

Wendy,
I loved reading your wisdom on the difference between joy and happiness. It is just what I needed to hear. A few weeks ago I decided to stop saying "no" so much and start saying "yes" to all the little requests my boys have in the day...Mommy can you read me this book? (for the 100th time), will you ride bikes with me? (I"m eight months pregnant) Can I help you cook? Can I wrestle you? Will you color this for me? Can you? Will you? I use to think up every excuse in the book to say "no". But I have discovered that these last few weeks of saying yes have been some of the happiest moments I have ever had with my boys. "Just say yes!" is my new motto if you want to be a happy Mom!

Hi Wendy, thank you for sending me the link! I love the "Star Wars" section, it makes me look "inside" of me and "re-think". Thank you!
We love to go to "the new children's museum", I love to see my kids having fun by making art projects.
The pictures of the boys are hilarious!

Laying in bed in the morning with my three kids, taking them to the pool or beach to enjoy the sun and water..... And then pretty much going anywhere with my hubs or with sweet girlfriends!

My husband is quite the tea lover, especially in the fall. It would be lovely to have a date at the Tea Room with him! In fact, after I read your blog post a couple of weeks ago about it, I had to tell him right away! It would be a perfect way to reconnect :)

I love to travel and show the world to my kids. To see the world through their eyes and share fun things with them is the best!
