"If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants."
(Isaac Newton)
I have a few very special GIANTS in my life, not the loathsome sort, but giants because of their enormous greatness. Giants because of the magnitude of impact they have on my life. And giants because they have given me perspective that only a giant can gain. A giant literally rises above all the distractions and looks at something as it is in light of the whole picture. Giants take in the landscape and recognize the trees and valleys, streams and meadows for being simply what they are - parts of the whole. They have perspective.
Sally Clarkson is such a giant. By the grace of God she's been given the eyes to see mothering moments, ideals, and joy as intricate, necessary parts of the whole that is our lives. And because she writes down her thoughts and shares them with me (and many others) I get to ascend her shoulders and view what she views - The vista of my mothering experience. And from atop that blessed perch I commit again to what is important and find myself inspired and renewed.
Today is the release date of her latest book, Desperate, Hope for the Mom who needs to Breath.
The title has already grabbed ahold of my heart and made me eager to perceive what she has seen from her heavenly vantage point. She's seen the desperation I've felt, no doubt. But with all four of her children grown, I can trust she's also seen the other side of Desperate... Destiny.
I didn't come up with that alliteration on my own. The title of her upcoming Conference in Irvine, CA. next month is "Moving Through Desperate to Destiny." Needless to say, I'm signed up. And you can too, here.
I already ordered a few copies of Desperate, co-written with Sarah Mae, from Amazon for $10.87. And I bought an extra copy to give away this Friday. If you would like to be entered in the drawing to win a copy of Desperate, leave a comment below. Share this post with others so that they can enter as well and I'll enter your name in the hat again. Sally is a Blessing to me and so I hope to extend that blessing on to you. It's a beautiful view from atop her shoulders!
Welcome to those visiting from another Giant who encourages me along the way:
