When I speak to women's groups I am usually asked by the lady orchestrating the event, "Would you like us to set up a book table for you?" My answer to the question has always been "no". And the reason is simple: I haven't published any books.
I've been a little busy here on the home-front wiping bottoms, doing dishes, training children, reading books...

A friend sent out a Prayer Request on Facebook one day asking everyone to lift up sincere prayers for a family friend of theirs; a young man named Keinan who had a terrible football injury. The Doctors, she reported, "have no hope."
Immediately I closed my eyes and bowed by head, hands falling from the keyboard to my lap as I prayed for Keinan. And as I spoke to God, he began to speak...

Two themes for a blog post rolled around my mind last week. The first was the ever important role of "Dad", which I wrote and posted here. The second theme supersedes that post and every post that could ever be written, for it is "God's Grace."
Somehow, as I wrote the one, on the impact our hu...

There were many words of wisdom Matt and I received from our pre-married counselor, words that I come back to again and again over the years. It took me but a second to respond, "I'm scared that I'm going to serve and serve and serve, and eventually I'll end up losing myself." Pastor Ken looked Matt square in the eye a...

If you haven't read the book, "The 5 Love Languages" by Dr. Chapman, DO! It's a wonderful read for married couples to explore how each of us gives and receives love in one primary way, such as physical touch, words of affirmation, or quality time together. I've heard many couples say that it was the most helpful book in their marriage. While I agree that it was useful in learning how to communicate love to my husband, and recognize whe...

I've written of our need to be praying for our children before; I've recounted the miracles I've seen because of prayer; I've prayed that I might be a more consistent prayer; but today, today is the day I am lifting up THE PRAYER. No, I'm not talking about the lesson in how to pray that Jesus Himself gave us in Matthew Chapter 6, though that's surely a worthy post, I'm talking about the prayer that Solomon prayed in 2 Chronicles 1:6-13.

When writing a blog, I've been told, your title holds 90% of the power, for it draws readers in. 10% remains in the quality of your written words, and the wisdom those words hold, to hold your audience captive. Now I know that I have the catchiest title of all today, so let's see if I can muster the power here at the keyboard to encourage us to shed some weight in the New Year.
So ont...
